(Officially) Introducing… Kundalini Tarot
If you’re following me on the interwebs, you’ve probably noticed my mentioning something called the Kundalini Tarot deck. Well, since I’ve already gotten the first order for it (words can’t express how friggin giddy I am over that), I think it’s about time I officially introduce my creation to the world.
I’m creating my very own tarot deck
This is something that I’ve been dreaming about for a while now. As a lifelong artist and as a tarot reader, it’s been a fantasy of mine to have my very own tarot deck. A whole 78 cards with my artwork all over them.
I’ve tried making decks in the past, but to no avail. Well, I did technically create a full deck once, but I didn’t like it. It wasn’t “me” at all. Plus, in all of my many moves, I lost the original artwork for it. So I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
But finally, after years of trying, and creating a handful of cards here and there, I’ve finally done it. Well, I’ll be able to officially, without a doubt say that by Saturday morning, when the deck gets uploaded to the printer and I get the first copies made.
Funny thing is, I almost scrapped this deck.
While I absolutely love the artwork and energy of the deck, I was afraid that people weren’t going to get it — or like it. I was also worried about finding a printer, since most places won’t come within thirty feet of anything with nudity. (Fucking prudes. Ugh.) Then there were thoughts of what to charge in order to make it profitable (because a girl’s gotta eat, you know), and would I get any shit from people that don’t like the deck.
I ended up doing a tarot reading last night, just asking what I needed to know, and all of this came up in the Eight of Swords. And that’s when it really hit me how bad my limiting beliefs were when it comes to creating a tarot deck and putting it out in the world. But luckily, the Eight of Swords tells us that if we take things one step at a time instead of blowing them out of proportion, we’ll be able to make progress and move towards that house on the hill.
So last night I started working overtime on the deck. I’d written a post about it here before, but I deleted it because of all my thoughts and fears around making the deck. But last night, and into this morning, I made a whole lot headway. So much so that I’m only 11 cards away from the full deck. In fact, here’s the Major Arcana from the deck.
I have to say, I’m in love with it. It’s not only a portrayal of who I am as a tarot reader, but it’s also a look into my heart. I can confidently say that it’s taken me years to create this deck. There is artwork in here that I did in 2005, along with images that I created just last week. It’s a mixture of textures and art styles, with influences from comic art, graphic design, and tattoo art.
But what really connects all of my work is the Divine Feminine. Every piece was created by channeling my own libidinal energy — this is literally artwork that I created while influence by my own kundalini. Hence the name.
As I mentioned, the Kundalini Tarot deck is going to the printer this Saturday, September 28th. And the first deck has already been claimed (and internationally, no less — I feel like such a fucking rock star). If you’d like to get your own copy of the Kundalini Tarot deck, you can purchase one here. It’ll come with a fold-out guide to tarot (created by yours truly, so you know it’ll be simple and straight to the point), and a complimentary Manifest Poster. Woot!
You should totally hang it above your altar or your desk (the frame’s not included, but it would look great in a black one).
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. I feel like I’m finally doing what I am meant to be doing. And this is the biggest project that I’ve completed yet. Can’t wait to see what else is in store.
Soulgasmic Love + Kisses,
